The Lessons That Stick

Over the last 12 weeks, I’ve written about systems, incentives, handoffs, recoverability, and the messy reality of how work actually gets done.

Not because they were trendy. They aren’t.

AI is trendy.
Crypto is trendy.
TikTok is trendy.

The things I write about are grounded.

There’s no replacement for experience. As technically proficient and well-prepared as I thought I was, experience — good and bad — showed me that some lessons aren’t taught in classrooms or learned from textbooks.

I learned them when things broke. From the people who stepped forward, took ownership, and moved toward the problem instead of away from it.

Sometimes I led those moments.
Sometimes I followed people who did it better than I could have.

Those are the lessons that stick.

If you’re only looking up at the next title or next move, you miss what people and systems are teaching you all around you.

I’ve always looked for a better, faster, more automated way to work.

What I learned is that doing that doesn’t remove the hard problems. It earns you harder ones.

That’s what these posts were really about.
